Retiring, Selling and Moving

When Sandra and I married in 2017 , We sold my house and just about all of my furnishings. I also sold my Mustang convertible and ski boat. This was just the start of our downsizing process.

When the Covid pandemic arrived, it pretty expedited the process of us selling our possessions and preparing to move onto the boat. Sandra left here job in mid 2020, and I retired in February 2021. This gave us more time to allocate towards selling items.

We were using Facebook, Craigslist, Offer-up and garage sales to sell everything. It was a lot of work, but we were slowly depleting our life-long inventory of stuff. We realized during this process just how much stuff we acquired over the years, and how much of this stuff was not even being used. We were slowly working our way towards a minimalist lifestyle, and loving it.

In May of 2021, Sandra’s house was sold and we moved aboard Namid full-time. We rented a 10’X10’ climate controlled storage in Kemah ( Near the boat) to store items that we wanted to keep. For the next six months we were still selling and organizing to fit items in the storage. We actually at one point discussed getting a larger storage to house our possessions that were left. Nope, we are not going to do that ! We stayed committed to a 10’X10’ storage.

Well, fast forward to November, I sold my Yukon. This was when it really hit home that we were going to do this thing. 3 days later, Sandra sold her Nissan Juke. We were now carless.

Wow !!! Let the fun begin.
